Operculectomy is a minor surgery to remove the flap of gum tissue (operculum) that partly covers a wisdom tooth. This is done to prevent infection and inflammation, especially when the wisdom tooth is erupting or causing problems. It allows for better cleaning of the area and can promote proper tooth eruption.
