Impact of 3D on My Practice (Endodontics) | October 7, 8:15 - 9:30 a.m. Session Description
There is no "one type" of dental practice today and this course will highlight the pathways to choosing what criteria are used in the selection process for the right CBCT system for your practice. The course will continue with a transition process of learning and collaborating with both your patients and specialists.
Dr. Ghaboussi is one of the few dentists in the country who has qualified for, and been awarded with a Mastership in the American Dental Implant Association, and a Diplomate from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation for his excellence and clinical abilities in sedation, and implant dentistry. To better serve his patients, he is an active member in the American Dental Association, Dental Organization For Conscious Sedation, Reconstructive Dentistry Institute, as well as the American Dental Implant Association. How 3D and Implants Accelerated My Practice Transformation | October 7, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Session Description
Implant placement is a large part of Dr. Ghaboussi's practice. He will describe how CBCT has changed his treatment plans and made a significant difference in patient acceptance. He will also discuss how he was able to gain staff acceptance and create excitement over use of CBCT in his practice.
Dr. Koenig currently serves as Professor and Program Director of Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received the Marquette University School of Dentistry Full-time Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009 and the Marquette University Rev. John P. Raynor Teaching Excellence Award in 2010.
Dr. Koenig has been Board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology since 1996 and is Past-President of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She completed an oral and maxillofacial imaging text-book “Diagnostic Imaging: Oral and Maxillofacial” which was published in 2011 and contributed to a text on implants: “Specialty Imaging: Dental Implants” which was published in 2014. She also contributed to a text on the TMJ which was published in June 2016 and is currently working on the second edition of the Diagnostic Imaging book.
Anatomy and Pathology Review | October 7, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Session Description
Dr. Koenig will review radiographic anatomy as seen on CBCT images from the cranial base to the suprahyoid neck. The radiographic presentation of common odontogenic lesions including periapical and pericoronal pathology, and common non-odontogenic pathology will be discussed. Emphasis will be on the description of radiographic features and the formulation of differential diagnoses.
Dr. Gy Yatros has been practicing dental sleep medicine for over 15 years and is a well-respected international lecturer in the field of sleep-disordered breathing and dental sleep medicine. Through his pragmatic and energetic teaching approach he has earned visiting faculty positons at the nationally esteemed Dawson Academy, Spear Education, and Pankey Institute. He has offices in Bradenton, Sarasota and Tampa, Florida devoted exclusively to the treatment of sleep disordered breathing and TMD. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), past president of the Manatee Dental Society and is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine with the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. He is a Co-Founder of the Dental Sleep Solutions system for successfully implementing dental sleep medicine in dental practices.
3D Airway Analysis | October 7, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Session Description
Airway analysis using CBCT can provide valuable insights into the role of CBCT as it relates to airway evaluation. Many of our patients have obstructed airways and garnering a comprehensive view of them can guide dentists to more predictable treatment outcomes. What we can't see can hurt our patients. We'll review the landmarks important to airway analysis while discussing how it impacts treatment planning.
Laura Jansen Howerton has spent 30 years in academia: currently as an Instructor at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina, Associate Professor at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill from 1998-2007, and Clinical Associate Professor at The Ohio State University from 1987-1998. In addition to teaching, she currently works developing patient studies with computer software in three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). She has also participated in numerous editing and test bank production assignments with Elsevier Health Sciences for many years.
Laura is the co-author of two textbooks: Radiographic Interpretation for the Dental Hygienist and Dental Radiography: Principles and Techniques, both published by Elsevier Health Sciences, as well as a chapter in Mosby's Dental Hygiene: Concepts, Cases, and Competencies by Daniel et al. She also served on the editorial board of Mosby's Dental Dictionary, 3E.
YOU, ME & CBCT with Safety and Anatomy (Staff Session) | October 7, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Session Description
This presentation will cover what you and your patients need to know about 3D imaging; the basics of radiation and cone beam computer tomography imaging, geared towards the interests of dental hygienists and assistants. Topics to be discussed include: radiation facts, physics and biology; adult doses and risks; radiation protection; overview of CBCT including advantages and disadvantages, radiographic interpretation of normal anatomy and common pathologies; patient education opportunities.
Douglas Chenin, DDS is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Chenin worked directly with Anatomage for five years as the Director of Clinical Affairs where he helped in the development of the Invivo5 CBCT Imaging software and the Anatomage Surgical Guide system. He also worked in conjunction with BeamReaders Inc for several years directing the implant planning consultations and surgical guide facilitation services.
He has earned a reputation of a CBCT technology expert with his extensive participation in study clubs, seminars, conferences, and his numerous professional publications about CBCT imaging for various dental specialities.
Dr. Chenin also founded his own CBCT Consulting and education company called Clinically Correct Inc which focuses specifically on teaching CBCT imaging technology.
Success with Surgical Guides | October 7, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Session Description
In this lecture Dr. Chenin will introduce the various surgical guide types and classify them according to the available "levels of control" that surgical guides can offer, and the associated instruments needed for these various capabilities. He will also discuss surgical guide digital workflow considerations and surgical guide protocols. This lecture will also explore the associated digital CAD/CAM capabilities and advanced options that can be used in conjunction with guided technologies. This lecture is perfect for anybody interested in using surgical guides, either on their own or to facilitate case planning and collaboration with colleagues.
Dr. Work earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Oregon before continuing on to dental school at Oregon Health Sciences University. After joining the US Navy, he and served as a Navy Dental Officer for four years before setting up his private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has more than 20 years of experience as a practicing dentist and is an Ambassador of Education for Instadent, a global provider of dental implantology and tooth restoration solutions. He also lectures on implant placement and bone grafting techniques. Dr. Work is a member of the American Dental Association, the Arizona State Dental Association, the Flying Dentists Association, and is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr. AminZadeh pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University, graduating in 2001. His education in the field of implant dentistry was supplemented by a Master Clinician certificate from gIDE institute and Loma Linda University in 2014. Dr. AminZadeh is an international speaker and a key opinion leader in the field of digital dentistry, implantology, and microscope enhanced dentistry. He has built his practice upon digital treatment planning of complex oral rehabilitations. He is a consultant for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and general dentists. In 2015 Dr. AminZadeh founded Implant Genius, an implant treatment planning company based in Vancouver.
